More detailed error messages for automatic emails

Introduction

When sending automatic emails, an error such as EMAIL_TEMPLATE_PROCESSING_ERROR can occur. This message, which was visible in the integration logs, previously only contained the technical Salesforce error, without any additional context about which email template caused the error. This made it difficult to identify where the problem was.

With this feature, error messages are extended with additional information about the email template used and the candidate involved. This allows administrators to more quickly identify which configuration or content needs to be adjusted.

Feature explanation

The error message in the integration log is extended with additional information when an automatic email cannot be processed due to an error in an email template.

In addition to the existing Salesforce error message, the following is now also shown:

  • the name and unique ID of the email template
  • the subject of the email

In addition, the integration log is linked to the candidate for whom the email was intended, making it easier to see which process and which person the error relates to.

This extension is applied to multiple processes in which automatic emails are sent, including:

  • GDPR privacy consent and reminders
  • checklist reminders
  • appointment invitations, confirmations, reminders and cancellations
  • job alerts
  • questionnaire invitations and reminders
  • general email sending via flows and batch processes

This provides more insight into errors with automatic emails in one central place, and allows faster action when an email template is incorrectly configured.

 

Setup / Implementation time

No additional configuration is required for this feature. The extended logging is automatically applied to the supported processes that use automatic emails.
