Onboarding wizard for candidates on the portal

Guide your candidates step by step in providing the right information and documents with our onboarding portal. MSR-1080 | October 2025

Introduction

A successful onboarding is crucial for both candidates and organizations. This new functionality introduces a step-by-step wizard that guides candidates through their onboarding process within the portal. With a clear and intuitive structure, candidates gain insight into their progress and what is expected of them. This increases their sense of control and reduces confusion.

Who is this feature relevant for?

With this feature, the MSR application administrator can easily configure one or more onboarding wizards to optimally guide candidates. For candidates, the process is simplified—from providing initial details to viewing their first payslip. The Portal Wizard can be used by both MSR and Combi customers and is available in both the client and candidate portals. To use the Portal Wizard, the portal must be set to the new styling.

  • The wizard automatically opens at the step where the candidate last left off.

  • A specific wizard can be assigned per candidate via a field on the contact record.

  • Promotes candidate self-reliance thanks to visual progress and clear instructions.

Components from both Recruitment (MSR) and Mid Office (MSF) can be combined into a single overview.

Feature explanation

Until now, onboarding tasks for candidates were spread across several portal tiles, often causing confusion. This new feature introduces a structured wizard that groups all important steps into a single central tile at the top of the dashboard.

Key functionalities:

  • The wizard appears as a separate tile above all other tiles on the dashboard.

  • When the portal is opened, candidates are automatically directed to the wizard (if activated).

  • The wizard displays a sequence of steps (MSR and MSF items) in order, with clear status indicators:

    • Closed and not completed: step number and title only

    • Closed and completed: step number with checkmark and title

    • Open: title with instruction text

    • Open and completed: instruction plus checkmark

  • Each step includes instruction text, depending on the candidate’s access rights.

  • Candidates can mark steps as “completed” themselves.

  • Progress is stored in MSR on the contact record.

  • When a step is completed, the next incomplete step automatically opens.

  • A wizard can be manually marked as “completed” at any time, after which it is removed from the candidate’s view.
