Hide title and icon on portal tiles

More control over the appearance of portal tiles when using background images. MSR-1196 | January 2026

Within the portal, it is already possible to configure a background image for a portal menu item. In practice, the tile content, such as a counter, is often hidden in these cases. In some situations, the background image already contains the title and icon. With the new portal styling, the title and icon are displayed in the centre of the tile by default, which can conflict with the background image.

With this new functionality, administrators gain additional control over the tile display, allowing the title and icon to be fully hidden when desired.

Who is this feature relevant for?

This feature is intended for application administrators who want to visually optimise the portal, especially when using background images on portal tiles.

The functionality is available for both MSR and Combi customers and applies to both the candidate and customer portal.

Key benefits

  • More flexibility in the design of portal tiles.

  • Prevents overlap or visual conflicts between background images and the title or icon.

  • Consistent configuration for MSR and Combi.

  • No impact on navigation: the title and icon remain visible in the left-hand portal menu.

Feature explanation

A new option has been added to the metadata settings of a portal menu item:

Hide title and icon on tile

This option is disabled by default. When enabled:

  • The title and icon are no longer shown on the tile on the dashboard.

  • The title and icon remain visible in the left-hand navigation menu of the portal.

The configuration options for MSR and Combi are automatically kept in sync.

Set-up / Implementation Time

  • Implementation: < 15 minutes
