Custom labels for self-added action settings

You can now apply translatable labels to your self-added action buttons in Application Step settings and Search Persons action settings. MSR-825 | May 2024

For whom is this feature?

This feature is useful if you want to add custom translatable labels to your self-added action buttons in Application and Search Persons context.

Benefits for you as a user

  • The action buttons have your preferred label and are translatable.

Clarification of this new feature

In the objects Application Step settings and Search Persons action settings, there are a number of standard (managed) action buttons. It was already possible to add custom translatable labels to these buttons. From now on, you can also use this method for any action buttons that you added yourself.

For this, you can use the following syntax in the 'Description’ field:

{!$Label.Example}

This action button will automatically receive the label in the logged-in user's preferred language. So 'Example' in English, 'Voorbeeld' in Dutch, etc. You can add the custom label and the desired translations via Setup > Custom labels. See the example below:

Customlabels EN

Tip: add your customer name prefix to your custom labels to make them easier to find. For example, if your company is called 'ABC', use 'abcExample’ as a label in the above example.

Setup

This ‘custom label’ functionality utilizes a third-party tool that requires authentication via your Salesforce environment. To do this, you must create a ‘Named Credential’ via:

  • Setup > Named Credentials
  • In this situation, it is also possible to use an available Named Credential that was created earlier and whose URL refers to the Salesforce environment.
  • If you have any trouble, our consultants and support team can also set up this functionality for you.

Next, you refer to this named credential in a new field in the custom settings. You can find these here:

  • Setup, Custom settings, 'Columns, Filter and Custom Label Settings', Custom Labels Named Credential

Feature Implementation Time

  • Very easy implementation: Implementation time < 30 minutes
