More options are now available to select the correct salutation for your contact person or candidate. MSR-960 | Sep 2024
Who is this feature for?
This is relevant for all customers.
Benefits at a glance:
- More inclusive salutations and titles are now possible
- Automatic linkage between chosen salutation and gender
How it works
Previously, the link between salutation and gender was hard-coded, limiting you to selecting 'Mr' or 'Ms', with the gender field automatically filled based on this choice. From now on, you can define new salutations and decide whether to fill the corresponding gender field with a value. This is managed through combinations in Custom Metadata Types, 'Salutation Settings', with the following logic:
- If you enter a salutation when creating a new person but do not fill in the gender, it is automatically filled from the 'Salutation Settings'.
- If you fill in both fields when creating a new person, they are stored as entered, regardless of the set combination.
- When editing an existing record, the gender field is only filled after changing the salutation if it has no value.
- If no combination is set in the Salutation Settings, no gender is filled after entering the salutation.
Feature Implementation Time (FIT)
- Simple implementation: < 30 minutes
Setup
You can add new salutations to the picklist value 'Salutation'. Open the Person object, choose Fields and Relationships, and select the Name field:
Click the Edit button on the right to add the picklist values to the Salutation field. Ensure these values are also selectable in the relevant record types. Go to the record type, choose Salutation, activate the added values for the respective record type, and repeat these steps for each record type.
In Custom Metadata Types, Salutation Settings, you can automatically fill the gender based on the selected salutation. Two records have been added, where the picklist API values Mr and Ms are already linked to the respective API values Male and Female in the Gender picklist field. If you want to fill the corresponding gender field for the newly added salutation picklist values, you can add them to these Custom Metadata Types.
