Reference date tag for document generation

Print the reference date that was used to generate a document. F107407 | 2026-05

Introduction

When a document is generated, the reference date decides which version of the data is used, for example for the CAO text. Until now this date was not visible in the document, so the reader could not see which situation the document reflects. A new tag now prints the reference date in the document.

Who is this feature relevant for?

  • Users who generate documents for employment contracts, placements, projects and accounts
  • Administrators who maintain document templates

Benefits at a glance

  • The reader can see for which date the document was generated
  • The printed date is the same date that is used to select the CAO text, so the two always match
  • The reference date is stored on the document record, so you can always check it afterwards

Feature explanation

A new tag, ReferenceDateInput, can be added to a document template for an employment contract, placement, project or account. When the document is generated, the tag is replaced by the reference date that was used for that document, as plain text.

The tag does not calculate a date of its own. It shows the same reference date that is used to select the CAO text, whether that date was entered or suggested by the system. The date is shown in the date format that is set in the cultural settings of the document. If no reference date is available for the document, no date is printed.

When the document is created, the reference date is also saved on the document record in the field Input Reference Date. If the field already has a value, that value is kept. This way you can always check later which reference date was used.

Set-up / Implementation time

Add the tag ReferenceDateInput to the document templates where the date should appear. If the date must be shown in a different notation (for example not the American way), check the date format in the cultural settings. No other configuration is needed.
