Phone number field with country code on the portal
Capture every portal phone number with the right international country code. F106392 | 2026-05
Introduction
Previously, phone numbers entered on the portals often lacked a reliable country code, which led to inconsistent formatting of international numbers. Every phone field on the portal now has a country-code selector, and the number is saved in a standard international format.
Who is this feature relevant for?
- Candidates using MSR portals
- Customers using MSR Hybrid portals
- System administrators managing portal configurations
Benefits at a glance
- Phone numbers are always stored with the correct international country code.
- Logged-in visitors start with their own country already selected.
- Administrators can pin preferred countries to the top of the list for faster selection.
Feature explanation
Every phone field on the MSR Candidate and Customer portals now shows a country-code selector next to the number. The visitor picks a country and enters the local number, and the portal combines the two into a standard international number before it is saved. If the visitor types a number that already starts with a country code, the selector switches to the matching country while they type.
The country that is selected by default is chosen as follows. For a logged-in visitor, it is the country stored on their own record. If that is empty, or the visitor is not logged in, it is the first preferred country of the portal domain. If no preferred countries are set, it is the country in Company Information inside the Salesforce org.
Administrators can set preferred countries per portal domain. These countries are shown at the top of the list in the order entered, followed by all other countries in alphabetical order. Setting preferred countries does not limit which countries visitors can choose.
Set-up / Implementation time
The country-code selector is available on all portal phone fields after the release, with no configuration needed. Optionally, administrators can set preferred countries in Setup → Custom Metadata Types → Portal Domains → Phone Preferred Country Codes, as comma-separated country codes (for example NL,BE,DE). The first code is the default country.
